Now’s your chance to prove you are the best! Enter the corn hole in the Wiregrass tournament coming up later this month. Register now for savings and free tickets in to PorktoberQue!
CornHole is a sport that has great popularity in our northern states, and has been slowly catching on in the Wiregrass. It’s named CornHole because the bean bags are filled with dried corn, and you toss the bags (hopefully) into a hole at the opposite end of the court. Some folks in the south refer to the game as bean bag toss.
Mike and Carolyn Houston are conducting this tournament with proceeds to benefit the Dothan High School Cross Country program. People who pre-register for the tournament will receive four general admission tickets to PorktoberQue.
Friday night, September 26th, will be practice rounds for registered teams. If space and time permit, people interested in learning about CornHole will be given the opportunity to participate. Practice rounds will be from 6-9PM.
The tournament will kick off Saturday, September 27th, at 3:00PM. The tournament hosts will have the pairings available the morning of the event for viewing. The CornHole tournament will take place at PorktoberQue on the grass next to the Tuffy Automotive Man Cave.
There will again be trophies for the winners, and lots of fun for all participating. Some of the photos on the team registration form are from last year’s event. We welcome all ages and skill levels to participate as this is not a “sanctioned” competition. We want to promote fun and participation, though it does get a little competitive!
If you have questions about the CornHole tournament, or how to play the sport, please contact Mr. or Mrs. Houston at (334) 797-3668. There are also lots of videos about how to play and score CornHole online at YouTube.com
Space is limited to the first 40 teams to pay, due to playing time limits during the tournament day. Please use the registration form below to sign up. The names of the teams participating are online at www.PorktoberQue.com.
