HOUSTON COUNTY: The docket for 72 hour hearing before Judge Benjamin Lewis.
Persons arrested and which remain in jail for 72 hours before being released are required to have a court appearance before a Judge. In this hearing the Judge notifies the person of the offense of which hthey have been arrested, the penalty range, and certian rights which the person has.
The Judge asks the defendant if they plan to employ their own attorney. If they do not the Judge reviews the form they completed about their income and expenses and makes a decision to appoint a contract attorney or not.
The inmates are at the Houston County Jail and appear before Judge Lewis via TV from the jail to the courtrooom.
Understanding the codes:
FTA B&E Vehicle - failure to appear on breaking and entering a motor vehicle - a 1998 case means they did not pay their fines and costs.
FTA NWNI - Failure to appear for Negotiating Worthless Negotiable Instrument ( NWNI ) - 2006 case where cash bond means they did not pay their fiens and costs.
TOP 2nd - Theft of Property in the second degree
FTA DWR - Failure to appear for Driving While Revoked. A 2009 case with a cash bond means they did not pay their fines and costs
