HENRY COUNTY: The Henry County Board of Education votes on Thursday evening could be null and void.
On September 3rd Dr. Bice from the Alabama Department of Education in Montgomery sent a certified letter to Board Chairman Doretha Culver to a home address in Ozark Alabama. The letter gave Culver 5 days to respond to the letter that her domicile residence was in Ozark.
Culver signed for the certified letter which was sent to the Ozark address.
Culver was asked by RSN for a response of where she lived, in Dale County or in Henry County. Culver refused to answer and stated that was an issue that she was to respond to Dr. Bice. RSN informed Culver we had a copy of the letter, and with the media present, she should answer to the people of Henry County of her residence location. Culver refused to answer the question for the public.
Several chances and Culver refused to answer about her residence location.
There was a split vote, 3 to 2, on employment of legal counsel. If it is determined that Culver does not live in Henry County, then the votes cast by Culver are null and void. Culver, if she does not live in Henry County in her district has not done the right thing and resigned and pulled a scam on the people of Henry County by remaining on the school board.
The board voted by a split vote to hire an out of town attorney. The board employed an attorney from Tuskegee to represent the people of Henry County and the school board. The employment of the attorney was done without a contract in hand.
School Board Members John Cameron and Eddie Chambers were in opposition of the employment moving contract forward. Chambers was very outspoken in the fact of hiring an attorney without a contract. Cameron said he had only met one of the two attorneys for consideration.
School Board Members Doretha Culver, Jean Bush and Mary Wiggins refused to table the attorney employment even though there was no contract in place for the board to approve. Chambers and Cameron voted in opposition.
Should it be determined that Culver does not reside in Henry County, then the vote on the attorney, if legally challenged, could be null and void.
OBSERVATION
Three school board members, Doretha Culver, Mary Wiggins and Jean Bush do not appear to have the best interest of the people of Henry County, more importantly do not appear to have the best interest of the Henry County children and educators in mind.
They have a personal mission and agenda. And it appears to be one that is not in the best interest of the children and their education.
