Dothan - Houston County Getting Air Transport For Medical Patients

DOTHAN:    Dothan’s Pilcher Ambulance and Wiregrass Life Flight are joining together to bring rotor wing operations to Houston County.

Today the Dothan Commission moved forward a public hearing for September 15. The first step to getting approval  to work in Dothan Alabama.

The rotor wing operation, helicopters, will allow patient transport from areas where distance matters to one of the two Dothan hospitals. The air transport will also allow patients to be transported to specialized care units outside of Dothan.

Medicine has changed over the years. The Dothan Hospitals are equipped with computer units to allow specialized doctors not present in Dothan to examine patients. That examination, with the assistance of local medical staff, allows diagnosis and rapid transports to other hospitals where specialists reside.

The air transport will also allow trauma patients to be air lifted from the scene to a Dothan hospital, This rapid transport will increase the ability to save lives.

And saving lives is the goal of Joey and Debbie Pilcher and Wiregrass Life Flight.

Wiregrass Life Flight is seeking highly motivated Flight Paramedics for our rotor-wing operation in Dothan, AL. Salary is dependent upon experience.

Wiregrass Life Flight Employee benefits include medical and dental insurance (partially paid by company) for employee and immediate family, Long Term and Short Term Disability, Life Insurance, Employee Assistance Program, Paid Time Off (PTO), holiday pay, 401K (after 1 year of employment), education allowance and cell phone reimbursement. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3 years of recent critical care experience.

• Current ACLS, PALS, BLS.

• Advanced trauma course certifications.

• Must hold Alabama licensure and be able to obtain Georgia and Florida licensure.

• Must be able to lift 50lbs and maintain a duty weight of less than 215lbs fully suited.

Preferred Qualifications:

• FP-C, CCP-C, or CCEMT-P.

• NRP.
