DOTHAN/HOUSTON COUNTY:    Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz has been working his buttocks off to land jobs in Dothan and the wiregrass area.

That work is paying off in landing jobs.

On Thursday Mayor Mike Schmitz, Houston County Commissioners Jackie Battles and Curtis Harvey and fellow commissioners will announce a Miami based corporation opening their doors in Dothan.

The new plant will bring 100 new jobs with a possible 175 new jobs.

The announcement comes the day after Wayne Farms announces the lay off of 560 persons.

Folks, you need to know...Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz has been working his buttocks off to bring new jobs. Schmitz has been a "frequent flyer' in the pursuit of the new jobs.

I mention "frequent flyer". If you talk to Mike Schmitz, one thing he hates to do, is fly! But the Mayor has been keeping the sky active in flying after jobs.

Schmitz is in the car business. Selling cars is not something that normally takes months and months. But the recruitment of business takes months and months and negotiations and negotiations.

Schmitz has been working. Today I talked with him and you could tell in his voice that he is tired.

Schmitz is excited about the new jobs. But he is also frustrated and heartbroken when jobs are lost. I could tell in talking with him today, Schmitz is heartbroken for the 560 people who will be unemployed because of Wayne Farms.

But the people need to know...Mike Schmitz is working and working to get more jobs. And a lot of the pursuit of the jobs, has been at Schmitz cost. He has funded the bill personally. he and Sandy Schmitz.

I have told him this needs to be at the cost of the City of Dothan. And some he has. But a lot of the pursuit of the jobs, he has personally paid for the trips and pursuit.

No other elected official would. Mark Culver would not!!!
