Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce President to Address Troy University Graduates

DOTHAN—The president of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Matt Parker, will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates in Dothan on Monday, May 18.
The spring commencement ceremony for the Dothan Campus will be held at the Dothan Civic Center starting at 10 a.m. About 140 students will receive degrees during the ceremony.
As President of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Parker serves as the chief economic developer for recruiting new business investment and supporting existing industry growth in the Dothan area. He has been professionally involved in community and economic development since 1989.
He serves or has served on numerous boards of various civic and community organizations, including president of the Education Foundation for Dothan’s Future, Inc., “Yes We Can Dothan” Education Initiative, Friends of Fort Rucker, State of Alabama Workforce Investment Board, the State of Alabama Revolving Fund Committee, the Dothan-Houston County Foreign Trade Zone, Inc., Governor Riley’s Commission on Existing Industry, Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission, Troy University’s Dothan Campus Advisory Board, Dothan High Tiger Club, and the Wiregrass Soldier’s Memorial Foundation.
Parker grew up in Salt Lake City before being recruited to Auburn University for track and cross country, where he graduated in 1987. He is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and is a Paul Harris Fellow.
He and his wife, Anne, have a daughter Maria and a son Chase.
