DOTHAN:    Dothan Mayor and City Commissioners will consider a new contract for City Manager Mike West on Tuesday.

While the commissioners amended the laws recently to allow four year contacts for the City Manager, the new contract to be considered will not be for four years. The new contract will expire February 9, 2013.

The salary for the City Manager will be $ 160,368.00 annually with other perks such as insurance, car, retirement benefits.

The new contract also calls for a new contract renewal discussion to take place in the Administrative Meeting of the commission in January 2012 and a new contract vote at the commission meeting following.

The contract agreement can be viewed at

The city manager contract contains a clause requiring a nine month paid notice from the City of Dothan to the city manager before termination. Some commissioners have complained about the nine month clause.

The contact will be voted in at the Commission Meeting on February 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM.

The contract will require four votes and we are told there are at least four votes in favor of the contract.
