HOUSTON COUNTY: Yesterday my son and I had to be in Panama City. We have a love for boats and like to look and kick tires. Although John Curtis wants more than “kicking tires”.
While in Panama City I suggested we look at the Glasstream Boat Manufacturer. That I have wanted to look at how a sketch on paper becomes a reality to a nice boat.
Some phone calls were made to the contacts when Glasstream announced their coming to Dothan and bringing 100 jobs. With that we were able to tour part of the Glasstream Boats and see how they are built.
We met Amy. WOW, she is great and knows boats. She showed us the process of boat building. How the wiring is weaved in the boat. How the fiberglass reinforcement is designed in the boat. The little features you do not pay close attention to are included in the boats.
Amy showed us the design of the bottom of the boat. The design allows stability when you are sitting still and prevents the boat from being unstable as you walk around in the boat.
While talking with Amy, a Glasstream boat owner ( customer ) showed up. He sang the praises to Glasstream Boats. The customer, who lives in Panama City, described the performance of the boat in waves and how much he loves his Glasstream Boat.
Now John Curtis likes the 328SCX. A 32’ boat rated for 600 HP outboard motors. NICE. A 10 year hull warranty on the boat from the manufacturer.
Something I like… have you ever attempted to resolve the problems with large corporations and manufacturers from out of town. Like Verizon, DYMO, Alabama Power, and on and on. I am speaking the dealer if local but the manufacturer or somewhere else. Like, where is the head person of Verizon or Centurytel…where the buck stops.
Guess what with Glasstream? They are manufactured in Panama City Florida and soon in Dothan Alabama. The owner is there with hands on in the construction. So in the 10 year hull warranty, you know where the buck STOPS when all else fails.
DOTHAN GETTING ANOTHER BUSINESS!!!
I learned something yesterday!!! Dothan is getting a new boat dealership!
REELWINNER MARINE is coming to Dothan. That means more jobs.
REELWINNER MARINE will be a retail boat dealership. In fact, if you want to contact them, call Lisa Donaldson at 850-333-3035. She can begin demonstrating boats to you.
