Feeling creative? Dothan Magazine is holding its first-ever short story writing contest! Our September/October issue will feature your best spooky, scary, twisted, dark and laugh-out-loud funny DOTHAN-THEMED HALLOWEEN SHORT STORIES! Ghosts in the Opera House, vampires on Highway 231 and creepy fiberglass peanuts are all fair game (along with anything else in the Halloween realm) -- just so long as it's an original work of fiction written by you AND your story takes place in Dothan!
We'll have cash prizes for the TOP THREE stories we receive by the end of July, plus they'll be published in the upcoming Sept/Oct issue of Dothan Magazine. We'll share more of our favorite entries on our website in October. Your short story must be between 1,000 and 3,000 words in length and must NOT feature any real-life Dothan people (sorry... as tempting as it is to turn Reginald Jones or Mike Schmitz into apocalyptic zombies for your amusement, we don't feel like getting sued over this so make up your own characters).
Entries must be emailed to editor@dothanmagazine.com by Friday, July 27, 2012 with your name, phone number and address. Feel free to email or call Nick Stakelum, Dothan Magazine's editor, at (334) 446-1176 if you have any questions regarding the rules or submission guidelines. We're looking forward to sharing your original scary tales of the dark side of Dothan!
