Dothan Man Charged with Aggravated Child Abuse

On November 19, 2014 the Dothan Police Department responded to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center on a suspicious circumstances call, which possibly involved the abuse of a child.

Investigators say emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of New Hope Lane, to render medical aid to a male infant child who had stop breathing.  After being transported to the hospital, physicians discovered injuries which led them to believe the child was a victim of child abuse. Investigators questioned the child’s father, Steevns Calixte, and through that questioning, it was determined there was enough evidence to believe he was responsible for the child’s medical condition. The infant has been transported to Birmingham, Alabama for further medical treatment.

Calixte was arrested and charged with Aggravated Child Abuse.

• Steevens Calixte, black male, 31 years of age, of New Hope Lane was arrested and charged with Aggravated Child Abuse. A bond amount has been set at $250,000.00.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
