On February 9, 2013 the Dothan Police Department responded to a theft in progress in the 2700 block of Ross Clark Circle. Upon arrival, officers were advised the suspect David Dorsey entered the Fast Stop package store, took property and exited the business without paying for the items. Dorsey entered a car in the parking-lot and while attempting to flee struck an occupied vehicle. A store employee attempted to stop Dorsey, but was thrown from the vehicle as it left the premises. Both the store employee and the vehicle occupants were treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle and its license plate to the arriving officers. This information aided in locating and taking Dorsey into custody. Investigators say the case will remain open with additional charges pending.
- David Benton Dorsey, white male, 20 years of age, of Laurel Avenue, was arrested and charged with First Degree Robbery, with a $500,000 bond. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
