On March 14, 2013 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a recent investigation into a theft complaint. Investigators say Charles Herring represented himself as the owner of a home that he was renting, and entered into a “Rent-to-own” contract with the victim in which he received over $2,500 towards the home’s purchase. It was later discovered that Herring was not the owner of the home when he was evicted by the true owner. Charles Herring has now been arrested and charged with first degree Theft of Property.
- Charles Ted Herring, white male, 42 years of age, of N. Alice Street was arrested and charged with first degree Theft of Property (by Deception) with a $5,000 bond. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
