On March 3rd, 2015 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a recent theft investigation.
Investigators say Charles Simmer obtained the identity of multiple individuals while serving in the United States Armed Forces and used that information to open credit accounts in their names. Investigation began when Simmer filed a report in January which listed him as the victim of identity theft. While investigating that complaint, it was discovered that Simmer committed these crimes between June of 2014 and March of 2015.
Simmer was taken in to custody and has been charged with identity theft and multiple counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. Investigators say more charges are forthcoming.
- Charles Thomas Simmer, white male, 27 years of age, of Sweetwater Drive was arrested and charged with Identity Theft and four counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card. A bond amount has not been set and more charges are pending.
All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
