Dothan Man Charged with Second Degree Assault and Four Counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling

On October 16, 2012 the Dothan Police Department responded to a firearm assault at a residence located in the 1300 block of Cornell Avenue. The incident resulted in the victim, an adult male, sustaining a minor gunshot wound in the foot. Investigators responded to the scene and began gathering statements and evidence in the case. During the course of the investigation, police learned the suspect, James Mullins, was at the residence socializing with several other people when he became involved in an altercation with a person at the home. Mullins was escorted out of the house by others present who witnessed the altercation. According to witnesses, once Mullins was outside, the door was shut and locked after which he fired numerous shots through the door, one of which struck the victim. Investigators say Mullins has been arrested bringing this case to a close.

 

 

·        James Mullins, white male, 20 years of age, of Florence Street was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault and four counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling with bonds totaling $135,000.
