Dothan Man Charged with Third Degree Burglary

On September 28, 2012 the Dothan Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a residence located in the 2100 block of Stonebridge Road. Officers arrived on scene within minutes at which time two suspects fled from the residence and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers were able to quickly take the first suspect, a juvenile, into custody however the second suspect evaded capture at that time. Officers then became involved in a second foot pursuit with the suspect at large on South Lena Street. While fleeing officers on foot, the suspect ran into the path of a responding police officer and was struck by the patrolmen’s vehicle. The suspect, Courtney Byrd was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for a leg injury. Byrd was then booked into the Dothan City Jail bringing the case to a close. 


 


 


·        Courtney Byrd, black male, 18 years of age, of Kinsey, Alabama was arrested and charged with Third Degree Burglary with a $10,000 bond.


 


·        An additional arrest of a juvenile was made in this case.
