On April 2, 2014 the Dothan Police Department began investigating Christopher McConnell, after receiving a complaint that he was paid over $3,000.00 for repair services he never performed.

Investigators say that in November of 2013, the victim hired McConnell to replace windows at their home. McConnell was given money to order the materials and begin the work shortly after, but in March of 2014, neither the materials nor the work had been provided. It was later discovered that McConnell failed to order the materials and kept the money for himself. A warrant was issued for McConnell’s arrest, charging him with first degree theft of property, to which he was taken into custody on April 17th 2014.

On April 23rd 2014, an additional charge of first degree theft of property was added when another individual came forward stating they too were a victim of McConnell. Investigators say the victim hired McConnell in March of 2014 to work on their home and wrote him a check for over $2,000.00 to order the materials. Investigators say that McConnell cashed that check immediately after receiving it and assured the victim the materials had been ordered. Upon hearing of McConnell’s recent arrest, the victim contacted the business that was providing the material, and was advised that no order had been made.

McConnell’s arrest now brings these two cases to a close.

  • Christopher Lewis McConnell, white male, 55 years of age, of Bluemont Drive was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree Theft of Property. Bond amounts will be determined at a later time.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
