Dothan Man is Fatally Shot in a Jackson County Bar

A Dothan man was shot to death early Monday morning at a Jackson County bar. According to WTVY’s Ken Curtis, Sheriff Lou Roberts stated the apparent murder occurred at Shag’s Place about 2:15 am, in the small community of Jacob. Roberts said the identity of the victim will be released after relatives are notified.


Roberts said it will require a tedious investigation to solve the crime. A person of interest was interrogated shortly after the shooting occurred but was not arrested.


The sheriff said some type of altercation occurred at the bar that resulted in the victim being fatally with a small caliber handgun. Jacob is about 25 miles south of Dothan off U.S. 231.
