DOTHAN: The officer did not do this for publicity. But it is difficult for some good deeds to go unnoticed.
Dothan Police Officer Erica Libby was on patrol on Tuskegee Street in Dothan. Officer Libby observed a male subject playing basketball. She stoped and made chat with him and saw his ball was a rag. Officer Libby left the residence and went to K-Mart.
Officer Libby, with her own money, purchased a basketball and returned to Tuslegee Street where the child was at. She gave him the basketball and called out for a few. Officer Libby shot hopps with the young man.
That is great and will be memories the child will cherish. The efforts of Offier Libby also changes the attitude the child might have of the Police, from a negative to a positve.
Offier Libby has worked for Dothan Police Department for several years. She started as a Police Communications Officer. This year Officer Libby applied for and was promoted to a Police Officer. Officer Libby went to Police Academy and is now on the streets serving and protecting the citizens.
Officer Libby has it!!! A officer's job is not always to make arrest. A officer's job is about making positive contacts in the community. About building a relationship with the community. A officer's job is about making the community feel safe.
Good Job to DOthan Police Officer Erika Libby.
