On June 6, 2012 the Dothan Police Department made a multiple count felony arrest following a traffic stop. While on routine patrol, an officer conducted the traffic stop in the 700 block of North Lena Street after observing the vehicle in excess of the posted speed limit. During the stop, police discovered the driver, Roshawn Umond Vickers, was in possession of a pistol, marijuana, and cocaine. Officers checked the serial number of the pistol and found it was reported stolen with our agency earlier this year. In addition to narcotic charges, Vickers was charged as a violent felon in possession of a pistol after a criminal record check revealed Vickers plead guilty to second degree assault in 2007 in a case in which he was originally charged with attempted murder.
· Roshawn Umond Vickers, black male, 25 years of age, of West Newton Street was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Violent Felon in Possession of a Pistol with bonds totaling $30,000. Investigators say additional misdemeanor charges will be presented to the grand jury for possession of marijuana and receiving stolen property.
