The Dothan Police Department has recently concluded an extensive theft investigation that has resulted in two men being arrested and a third being sought. Investigators say numerous thefts committed by employees have left W.L. Hailey, a construction company, with a sizeable loss. Police say Robert Pitts, Gerald Eason and David Cruce worked for the company during 2011, at which time they were tasked with taking left over metals from job sites to be scrapped and funds deposited into the company’s account. Instead, an investigation has revealed that Pitts deposited the checks into his personal account and then divided the money between himself, Eason and Cruce.
Investigators say Gerald Eason was taken into custody yesterday by Lumpkin County Sheriffs Office and will be transferred to the City of Dothan. David Cruce was also arrested yesterday after turning himself in to authorities. Police are now searching for Robert Pitts who is wanted and are asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Pitts to call the Dothan Police Department or CrimeStoppers 334-793-7000.
The Dothan Police Department would like to thank the Lumpkin County Sheriffs Offices for their assistance with this case.
