On May 6th, 2014 the Dothan Police Department began its investigation into the murder of Daniel Dawsey, in the 1000 block of Eugene Street.

During that investigation, it was determined the person responsible for Dawsey’s death was Emanuel Bryant. Attempts to locate Bryant began immediately, starting with family and friends. Investigators began speaking with Bryant’s wife, Crystal Bryant, by phone. Through multiple conversations with Crystal, it was determined she was aiding Emanuel in avoiding apprehension.

As the search for Bryant continued, Investigators received information that both Emanuel and Crystal Bryant were at the Green House Inn and Lodge, located in Daleville, Alabama. Investigators immediately set up surveillance on that motel and confirmed Emanuel and Crystal were at that location. Both were taken into custody a short period later.

Through further investigation, it was determined Crystal Bryant picked Emanuel up after the shooting of Daniel Dawsey and took him to the motel in Daleville. Bryant continued to help Emanuel avoid arrest until they were both captured.

Crystal Bryant was arrested and charged with first degree Hindering Prosecution. Her arrest now brings this case to a close.

  • Crystal Lashaye Bryant, white female, 26 years of age, of West Inez Road was arrested and charged with first degree Hindering of Prosecution. A bond amount has been set at $5,000.00.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
