Dothan’s New Years Eve Blues Concert & Dance

Tas Cru (www.tascru.com), Blues Artist from Syracuse, NY and his band, The Tortured Souls, will be featured guests for the Dothan Blues Shows New Year’s Eve celebration and dance to be held at the Dothan Cultural Arts Center, 909 South St. Andrew St., Dothan, AL.

The festivities will also include a performance by the band Blu Zatcha, and then a jam with both bands taking part.

Tas Cru has been performing around the country in clubs and at festivals for over 25 years and has recorded more than 50 original songs on four albums-"Biscuit" (2006), "gravi-Tas "(2008), "Grizzle n’ Bone" (2009), "Jus’ Desserts" (2010), and "Tired of Bluesmen Cryin’" (2013). A new album, "You Keep the Money" is slated for release in December of 2014.

It is also in celebration of the release of “You Keep The Money” Tas’ fifth album, which drops on December 30, 2014. It features an array of Blues Styles all containing the lyrical twists and turns which is the hallmark of Tas Cru music.

He has also recorded the album, "Even Bugs Sing the Blues", which is not sold and only available during his Blues Education Program presentations.

In 2014, Tas was the recipient of the Keeping the Blues Alive Award for Education, presented by The Blues Foundation, which is based in Memphis, TN.

Living Blues Magazine has said of Cru; “The vivacity and sheer joy with which Cru plays is intoxicating and his ability to cast a memorable hook is magical"

Raucous, rowdy, gentle, sweet, eccentric, quirky, and outright irreverent are all words that fittingly describe Tas Cru’s songs and testify to his reputation as a one of the most unique of bluesmen plying his trade today. It’s not for nothing that Tas Cru has been dubbed, “the Master of TRIPLE entendre.” His songs are blues poetry -crafted with rare verbal flair. Live, they are delivered with a power and passion that only the seasoned entertainer can render.

Other honors and recognition include Cru being named to the New York State Blues Hall of Fame -2013 as a Master Blues Artist, and being named by Blues Festival Guide Magazine as its 2009 Blues Artist on the Rise 

This visit to Alabama is part of Cru’s “Sun PLEASE Shine On Me Tour” which has the band performing throughout Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, including 3 Blues Education Programs along the way.
