GENEVA COUNTY: Around 4:45 this morning multiple fire units from Malvern, Fadett and Slocomb responded to a report of a structure fire at 3766 North County Road 49. The first unit on scene advised a two story house with heavy fire visible.
Wicksburg and bay Springs were requested for mutuak aid with tankers and man power. Geneva County Sheriff’s Office responded along with an ambulance from Slocomb. When first units arrived the the fire was already coming through the roof.
The family was able to escape thanks to a smoke alarm waking them up. The home was a total loss, firefighters had to haul water due to no fire hydrants close by. Firefighters will be on scene for several more hours.
