Early Morning Fire Distroys Harmon Elementary School

HOUSTON COUNTY:  Around 3:30 AM.... Multiple Fire units from Pansey, Lucy, Ashford, Lovetown and Cottonwood responded to a report of a structure fire at the old Harmon Elementary School located on County Road 8. Reports are the structure was fully involved in fire.


As fire departments began to respond they would report that flames could be seen as far away as Ashford. The school that had been around for a very long time was glowing in the night sky.


Houston County Sheriff’s Office responded along with an ambulance from Ashford Rescue. The road the fire is located on is closed due to emergency equipment and supply line blocking the road.


The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
