ALABAMA: Several Coroner's across Alabama are funeral home owner's. That causes many problems in this state, as such in Elmore County.
If anyone has had a death where the Coroner has solicited or suggested the family use his or her funeral home, that should be reported to the Alabama Ethics Commission.
Such solicitation is a criminal violation and a violation on a family that has a death.

Elmore County coroner's ethics case goes to attorney general
Official allegedly used office for gain
The Alabama Ethics Commission found Wednesday that there was sufficient evidence to forward a case against Elmore County Coroner Timothy Ellison to the attorney general’s office for consideration.
Ellison, who as coroner is an elected official and who is a funeral home operator in Wetumpka, is accused of using his office for personal gain.
As part of the duties of his position, the coroner is expected to transport bodies to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. Ellison is accused of using a contractor to perform that duty, which is allowable, but inflating the invoices he received from that contractor by three or four times when he submitted them to local government entities for payment, according to the director of the ethics commission.
