DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY:   Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver and Houston County Personnel Director Sheri Thompson have advertised for applications for a new Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director.

Application date closes I think this week.

The current EMA Director, Steve Carlisle,  was retired from the federal government as a Ft. Rucker Fire Department. He was great friends and a co-worker to then EMA Director Clark Matthews.

Matthews was also a federal government retiree from Ft. Rucker Fire Department. So Matthews told Carlisle, "hey bud, come on I will hire you and it will be like old times". So Matthews hired his bud Steve Carlisle.

As soon as Matthews hit his 10 year mark to become vested now in the Retirement Systems of Alabama, he retired. That way Matthews had a federal government retirement and now a State of Alabama retirement.

Matthews buddy, Steve Carlisle stayed his 10 years. That time will be up on or about December 29. Carlisle will join his "ol bud" Clark Matthews and have a federal government retirement and now a state retirement.

We do not know what Culver and Thompson will suggest. The applications are coming in. And most of the commission has no clue what the job really entails.

But if you want to apply, contact Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver Office, 334-677-4740 for information. Culver, who is suppose to be full time, probably will be selling t-shirts at his t-shirt business or selling real estate for Alfred Saliba Realty. But Ms. Linda cal tell you what to do.

APOLOGIES TO THE EMA STAFF

On behalf of the people of Dothan - Houston County, I wish to offer sincere apologies to the current staff of Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management. Not once has Chairman Culver or Personnel Director Sherri Thompson contacted the current staff and informed them of the plans. They only know what they have read.

That is not really the way to treat the staff. But Chairman Culver is to busy selling his t-shirts for county business to get in his way. And Sheri can't get to work on time to call them.

So I apologize you are treated as sub class employees. Probably most of the commissioners do not know how you have been treated. One commissioner can look himself in the mirror and feels he does the right thing. But he probably cut himself shaving this morning, cause the current staff has not been treated right.

BY THE WAY.... I am not applying
