At today's County Commission Meeting, EMA Director Clark Matthews advised everyone, especially the to stay out of the heat. He advised those with out A/C to go to a public facility such as the library. As a last resort, Matthews said that three area churches would open to provide relief. Matthews said that they would not be shelter, serving food, etc. but would provide relief from the heat and provide water. Matthews said that if the churches were to open, they would be open until 5:00pm.
Those needing assistance or information can call 615-HELP until 5:00pm.
The churches that will be opened if needed are:
First Baptist Church -Recreation Center 300 West Main
Cloverdale Baptist -Fellowship Hall 806 Dexter St
First Church of Nazarene 1081 Honeysuckle
And if you don't believe that the heat will get to you, ask this Dothan city employee who required medical attention while working on a boom truck.
