Here I go again, sticking my nose into a hunt that I have no dog in. I do not get subscribe to a newspaper because I cannot afford one on a very "fixed income" and only have computer access at our library. I am literally sick over what DOT is trying to do in Eufaula. I do not live there nor have any ties there, but I have always loved the history it represents along with nearby historical sites such as Ft. Mitchell. My husband and I frequently go thru the Eufaula and I have never seen the "traffic congestion" DOT is using in plans to demolish the median going past those beautiful old homes. We have been thru there in Summer, Winter, Spring, Fall, and have seen lots of vacationers, but not one have we seen a traffic jam or anything closely resembling one. It may be lawful to do this to Eufaula, but IT IS JUST PLAIN WRONG !!! I am in my '70's and have always loved history. So do my children, and grandchildren. I guess I love Alabama, because I don't want to live anywhere else, but it hurts me to the bone to realize how far the state has fallen under the "leadership" of our state government. I think we may be sinking to the level of the US gov't and in a place where the damage has been done before the truth finally fights its' way out. But, since it doesn't seem to matter anyhow, I think I won't even vote and just go on home to where the "Truth" lives.
