HOUSTON COUNTY:   In Houston County and Henry County, as well as other counties, your Emergency Management Offices have been open and operating.


The Emergency Management in the weather operations, are a resource management and documentation agency. Should the Governor or President issue a disaster declaration from the weather related incident, then the expenses incurred by the local municipalities and county government, can be reimbursed for some of the operating expenses.


The Emergency Management helps manage the services available. Some of those include shelters and Red Cross coordination. While they do not manage the shelters and Red Cross, the coordinate the needs and resources with emergency responders.


The Emergency Management Agency also coordinates with the State of Alabama Emergency Management Agency on what local needs are and helping make those services available.


All throughout the night, in Houston County, the Emergency Management Office has been staffed. They maintain contact with National Weather Service as to what is expected and work to prepare for what weather can be expected. Attempting to vision what could happen weather wise, and what the needs of the public safety and public could be.
