ENTERPRISE:  Enterprise City Council meeting tonight.

The City of Enterprise was awarded a grant for $250,000 to tear down old and dilapidated houses and structures. The grant calls for the removal of approximately 105 ugly eye sore houses to be removed From the City of Enterprise. The grant also says that most of them are adjacent and off of the downtown area.

From what I know about a city the size of Enterprise is that the city is stuck in the middle.  Enterprise is too small to be considered for earmarked funds allocated annually for big cities and on the other side of the coin; they are too big to be considered for small town earmarks.

So for a City similar in size to Enterprise, that makes grants even more competitive.  At Mayor Boswell's “State of the City” address in January Boswell remember pounded on the grants subject.

The City of Enterprise has received nearly $51 million dollars since 2005.   I’m sure that they will surpass the $1 Million dollar mark this year. If so bump the $ 51 million to $ 52 million of new dollars to Enterprise.

A lot goes into tearing down or burning a house.  This is and can be an arduous task.  Enterprise was denied last year for the same grant but turned around and reapplied for this years funding cycle and got it.

HINT TO OTHERS:  If you fail the first time, ask again. The owner of Cannon Oil had business cards "ask, seek and knock". That is what Boswell and the Enterprise City Council did and did not give up.

From others in the region ( leaders ), they say Boswell supports the region, but Enterprise first. I applaud him and the City Council for that. Boswell is a key leader in the region and gets things done. But he looks after Enterprise first.

My hat is off to the city leadership for going after this grant.  Itslike the old saying goes, “You ain’t gonna get it if you don’t apply for it”.

Boswell and the Enterprise City Council seems to be working to take back Enterprise from eye sores!!
