Eufalua Man Arrest on Sex Charges

Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw announced the arrest of a 44 year old male for sexual crimes against a 12 year old child on December 7, 2011.



John Raymond Ragan Jr. w/m of Lot 19A Champion Trailer Park, 40 Cottonhill Rd. Eufaula, AL was arrest by Barbour County investigator, Lt. David Morris and Eufaula Police Department Detective, Donald Brown on December 14, 2011. Ragan was charged with Rape 1st Degree and Sexual Abuse 1st Degree and placed in the Barbour County Jail under no bond.



Lt. Morris said that Ragan was out on bond from Stewart County, GA at the time of the alleged rape and abuse, for similar type crimes of a 15 year old female in Georgia. Lt. Morris said the female victim knows the suspect and that he was a family friend.



Sheriff Upshaw said that the investigation was a joint effort by his agency, the Eufaula Police Department and Barbour County DHR and is a testament to what is accomplish when agencies work hand and hand. Sheriff Upshaw said that the investigation continues to determine if there are other victims in Barbour County that may be too frightened to come forward
