July 21, 2015 at around 1:00 p.m. was the last time anyone saw Charles Childree  ……   or at least that’s the last time the family saw him.  Members of the family and law enforcement officials are baffled by his disappearance and after conducting several searches of the areas around his home on Dale County Road 15 north of Ozark and places he was known to travel frequently by foot, there have been no clues to his whereabouts.

“We truly believe he was abducted and someone knows what has happened to him, and we believed it from the very first day he went missing.”  This was the response of one of the closest family members living within the immediate area who saw him every day.  They knew Charles’ habits.  “He was a very predictable person and always kept in touch with us.  When he didn’t show up and we went to check on him, we feared there was foul play.”

Charles Childree was the youngest of eight children and was born prematurely.  Not expected to survive because of his extremely low birthweight, Charles beat the odds, but was mentally challenged.  He also suffered from a medical condition.  The family believes it is very unlikely that he would have been out walking during the time that he went missing as temperatures were nearing 100 degrees during that time last year.

Family and friends would like to thank the Dale County Sheriff’s Department, countless volunteers from as far away as Texas and California who have conducted searches on horseback, four-wheelers, trucks, on foot, and by helicopter, and those who still pray for Charles’ safe return.

If anyone has any information concerning the whereabouts of Charles Childree, please contact the Dale County Sheriff’s Office at (334) 774-5111.  If you have any information that might help to solve a crime related to this matter, please contact the Dale County Sheriff’s Office Crime Tips HOTline at (334) 774-2335.  You may also submit information via the internet at www.daleso.com.  This information may remain anonymous and there is a substantial CASH reward for information leading to the location of or safe return of Charles Childree.
