A family has been devastated at the loss of a young child in the Choctawhatchee River. Several family members now want to bury her in Puerto Rico.

The tragedy struck at a family outing Sunday afternoon. The girl was wading in the river with her two siblings when all three were swept away by the current.

Rescuers reached the siblings in time, but the 5-year-old drowned. Her body was recovered the next day.

Family members identified her as Kairy Jimenez Rodriguez. Dale County authorities confirmed this, saying the family was living in Enterprise.

Several relatives are taking her story online and asking for two things: prayers and help bringing her body to San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. Two separate GoFundMe campaigns have been launched, saying they cannot afford it themselves.
