Fatal Bay County Crash

A 1992 Mazda pickup was traveling North on County Road 2315 (Star Avenue) behind other northbound traffic. A 2011 Acura SUV was traveling South on Star Avenue behind other southbound traffic. The Mazda crossed the cetner of the roadway and entered the path of the Acura. The front of the Mazda collided with the front of the Acura in the southbound lane of Star Avenue.

After the collision, the Mazda rotated in a counter clockwise direction and came to rest facing South on the southbound lane of Star Avenue. The Acura rotated in a clockwise direction and came to rest facing southwest on the West shoulder of Star Avenue. The driver of the Mazda, Danielle M. Heller, 31, of Callaway, Florida, was prnounced deceased by Bay County EMS personnel. The driver of the Acura, Tammy R. Zacherl, 49, of Panama City, Florida, was seriously injured and transported to Bay Medical Center. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
