Fatal Calhoun County Crash

A 1988 Chevrolet 3500 series work style truck with an attached welding machine/generator in the bed/cargo area, was traveling South on County Road 69A in a sweeping left curve. The Chevrolet exited the roadway and entered the West shoulder. The driver of the Chevrolet steered left and lost control of the vehicle. The Chevrolet then re-entered the southbound lane of County Road 69A, rotated in a counter clockwise direction, and overturned onto its left side. The driver was ejected when the vehicle overturned. The bed/cargo area seperated from the vehicle during the crash and came to final rest on the southbound lane of County Road 69A. The vehicle came to final rest upright facing South on the East shoulder of County Road 69A. The driver came to rest on the East shoulder of County Road 69A. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by Calhoun County EMS personnel. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Johnny I. Blackburn, 54, of Altha, Florida. A seatbelt was not in use at the time of the accident. The accident happened this morning around 6:20 A.M.
