On July 10, 2012, a Florida State Trooper was dispatched to a a single vehicle crash. A 2013 Freightliner was traveling westbound within the inside travel lane of I-10 and entered into a Northerly curve. The vehicle drifted toward the left and entered into the grass median which separates the eastbound/westbound lanes of I-10. The driver of the vehicle attempted to return to the westbound lanes by steering the vehicle toward the right, subsequently causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise. The vehicle then overturned onto its left side and slid to its respectful final rest location within the grass median, while facing a Westerly direction. The driver of the vehicle, Richard Alexander Kolis, 39, of Cedar Key, FL was pronounced deceased. The passenger of the vehicle, Daniel Dean Salyers, 49, of Reddick, FL, was seriously injured in the crash. Salyers was transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center.
