Fatal Escambia County Crash

A 1992 Chevrolet S-10 was traveling South in the southbound left turn lane of U.S. Highway 90, and was approaching the intersection of Wabash Ave. A 1999 Harley was traveling North in the northbound inside lane of U.S. Highway 90 and was also approaching the intersection of Wabash Ave. The driver of the Chevrolet failed to recognize and yield the right of way to the Harley and proceeded to make a left turn on Wabash Ave. The driver of the Harley was unable to avoid the Chevrolet and laid the Harley down onto its right side. The Harley then slid into the right side of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet came to rest in the northbound outside lane of travel for U.s. Highway 90 and was facing in an Easterly direction. The Harley came to rest immediately to the South of the Chevrolet, on its right side and facing in an Easterly direction. The driver of the Harley was ejected from the motorcycle during the collision and came to rest in the northbound outside lane of travel for U.S. Highway 90. The driver of the motorcycle was prnounced deceased and has been identified as Matthew Walter Vaughn, 27, of Pensacola.
