Fifteen Year Old Boy Dies after Playing Basketball

Dothan: Yesterday Dothan Fire was dispatched to a medical call at Emmanuel Christian School. Reports were a 15-year old had collapsed, Paramedics treated the boy and he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Reports are the boy was doing warm ups for basketball and stated he wasn’t feeling good and went and sit down on the bench and then collapsed.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd has identified the boy as Christopher “Savoy” Jones. It is not clear at this time what the cause of death is of the young boy but an autopsy is scheduled to determine what cause of death
Savoy Jones was a 15 year old Christian young man. He and his family were members of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. He always had a smile on his face and everyone loved him.
He grew up playing baseball at Doug Tew Park in Dothan. Savoy was a very talented athlete who played baseball and basketball at Emmanuel Christian.
He loved to play travel baseball, having played with a local team (Diamond Dogs) and a team with players from throughout the state (Bama Ice).
He played center field on the 2010 Doug Tew All-Star baseball team that won the state championship and played in the Dixie Youth World Series.
Last night after the word got out about Savoy the hospital was filled with students and adults showing respect for Savoy and support for his family and each other. Savoy's parents (Chris and Sophia) who were always there when Savoy was playing.
