The week of October 7 – 13 has been designated as Fire Prevention Week. The Dothan Fire Department along with other fire departments will be pushing Fire Safety more than ever. Fire Prevention Week has been recognized since 1925. In the years passed, over 15000 people died in house fires nationwide. Today that number is around 2500 people, this mostly due to education and safer built homes.
This year’s theme is “Have 2 ways out”, this goes along with plan ahead, Stop Drop and Roll, and when there is smoke you need to crawl.
The Dothan Fire Department will be out at the Wiregrass Commons Mall every night next week from 6 pm to 9 pm Sunday thru Friday and from 11am to 5 pm on Saturday with the photo winners posted there also.
