Florida Man Aressted for Possession of Marijuana

                        On 18, December 2012 at approximately 2353 hours, officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle on Albert Street within the City of Marianna Florida.  Officers approached the vehicle and observed Vaschan Tremain Williams sitting in the driver’s seat.  After a brief conversation, officers requested permission to search Williams vehicle for illegal narcotics, weapons and any other illegal items that might be in the vehicle.  Williams denied consent to search the vehicle.  K-9 sergeant was called to the stop to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle.  Upon arrival of the K-9 sergeant, K-9 Jyro was deployed to conduct a free air sniff of Williams vehicle.  K-9 Jyro gave a distinct behavior change followed by sitting constituting an alert for the odor of a narcotic within the vehicle.  A search was conducted of the vehicle and a small amount of marijuana was discovered.  Williams was arrested for possession of marijuana and after further investigation, Williams was also charged with driving under the influence.  Williams was transported to the Jackson County Jail Facility where he will be held awaiting first appearance.
