On 01/29/2013 Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the intersection of Jefferson Street and Deering Street in reference to a traffic crash. Upon their arrival they found a red 2009 Nissan passenger car on its roof against a residence with the driver still in the vehicle. Upon further investigation it was found that a Jackson county deputy had observed the vehicle at Citizens lodge and upon seeing the deputy’s vehicle he fled at a high rate of speed the deputy then tried to catch the vehicle but due to the traffic and the reckless manner in which Baker was driving he decided to back off and observe the vehicle. Baker then ran the red light at Jefferson and Kelson at a high rate of speed. As Baker approached the intersection of Deering and Jefferson he lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason and the vehicle struck the curb on the west side of the road becoming airborne. The vehicle then struck a light pole and began flipping before coming to a rest upside down against a residence. The driver of the vehicle was taken by life flight to a hospital in Alabama because of his injuries
