A state grand jury is meeting today to review a dispute involving Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan and his opponent in the Aug. 14 Republican primary, John Powell.
So far only three people have appeared before the grand jury, including Escambia County Supervisor of Elections David Stafford.
The grand jury has recessed for lunch but are expected to resume around 12:45 p.m.
Morgan complained to the State Attorney’s Office two weeks ago that Powell has accepted more than 30 cash campaign contributions over the $50 maximum allowed by law. Powell reported those contributions on his campaign finance reports.
A Note From Rickey Stokes
I miss Ol’John as Dothan Police Chief. He was great for drama!
