DOTHAN: A former Dothan attorney who admits to bilking clients out of more than $10-million dollars is seeking leniency from a judge who is scheduled to sentence him next week.
The attorney representing Mitch McNab recently filed Notice of Mitigating Factors with the court. It claims that McNab was cooperative with prosecutors and investigators before indictments were returned against him.
The document also said McNab is employed and his employer is willing to keep him on the job. It also claims McNab’s willingness to plead guilty saved the state a costly trial. “These cases were resolved efficiently from a cost and time standpoint,” attorney Joe Espy said.
Following McNab’s sentencing Houston County District Attorney Doug Valeska told WDHN’s Ken Curtis that he believes McNab should spend a lot of time behind bars.
McNab pleaded guilty in December to more than 50 felony counts including theft and securities fraud. The maximum potential sentence is more than 600 years in prison.
He lost his law license in 2013.
