BAY MINETTE, Alabama -- Former Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine was sentenced today to serve time on three charges, bringing to an end a long, emotional and controversial saga that is tied to the death of his former girlfriend.
The longest of the three terms that Circuit Judge Charles Partin sentenced Nodine to was a 10-year sentence on a perjury charge. The judge ordered Nodine to serve two years of the sentence as well as 36 months of probation after his release.
Nodine pleaded guilty to perjury and harassment, a domestic violence-related charge, Sept. 7. The prosecution agreed to drop stalking and murder charges against Nodine in the 2010 shooting death of Angel Downs in exchange for his plea.
