Frontier Village, Fort Gaines, GA --  Fort Gaines 200 has joined forces with the Georgia BBQ Association and White Oak Pastures to host the 1st Annual BBQ Challenge being held Memorial Weekend at Frontier Village, May 22 & 23.  The non-profit organization is focusing this year's big event on fund raising for the Creek Indian Village they would like to build in time for the 2016 Bicentennial of Fort Gaines.

Professional BBQ cook teams are in a heated race headed into the GBA finals and Fort Gaines is the second to the last competition of their 2015-16 season. "It was the grace of God and a stroke of good luck and that we were able to land such a critical spot in the GBA season.  Memorial Weekend is always a busy time on the lake and hosting a BBQ competition only makes for more visitors to our region," stated Sheri Baker, Director of Fort Gaines 200.   Additional regional tourism is exactly what the group is aiming for. "We are so proud that we have strong support from our surrounding counties on both sides of the river to make this event possible.  This is home to us and we love sharing it with visitors."

They are also excited to be pulling in such high profile cook teams like "Dobey Q" who backed World Champion BBQ King Myron Mixon for over 11 years. "Guest will get to meet and sample award winning BBQ from the finest teams in the Southeast. If you are a "foodie" this is your event!"
