Four Arrested for Armed Robbery and Carjacking in Georgetown

Quitman County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of 3 males and a female for the armed robbery of four individuals off State Road 39 in Georgetown, GA late Saturday night.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. Deputies responded to a reported armed robbery and carjacking on Allen Place Road south of Georgetown. Upon arrival at the scene, the victims were able to provide Deputies with a description of the four suspects and the get-away vehicle.
A BOLO (be on the lookout) was broadcast area-wide and officers with the Eufaula Police Department spotted the suspect vehicle just of State Road 82 in Eufaula. Following a traffic-stop by Eufaula Police and a follow-up investigation by Quitman County Deputies the four were arrested and charged with one count each of Armed Robbery and Hijacking a Motor Vehicle.
Those arrested were:
Dariss Lamar Rumph, age 20, of Clayton
Lishonda Wvette Hawkins, age 29, of Eufaula
David Denard Gamble, age 25, of Eufaula
James Rico Goodwin, age 24, of Clayton
The victim’s vehicle was recovered a short distance away from where it was stolen at gunpoint and returned to the victim.
During a search of a residence in Eufaula by Eufaula Police and Quitman County Deputies authorities recovered the pistol believed to be used in the robbery.
Rumph faces an additional felony charge of Aggravated Assault after striking one of the victim’s in the back with a baseball bat. The injured person was taken by private vehicle to the SAMC in Dothan, AL for treatment.
“The victims in this case were lured to an isolated area South of Georgetown and were forced out of their vehicle at gunpoint and robbed of cash, a cell-phone and their vehicle”, said Chief Deputy Eddie Ingram.
All four individuals are currently being held at the Eufaula City jail awaiting extradition back to Georgia.
“I commend my Deputies and the Eufaula Police Department in bringing this violent crime to a quick resolution. The assistance and participation by Eufaula Police was very professional and very much appreciated”, said Sheriff Steve Newton.
The case remains under investigation and more charges are likely to be filed on all four of the suspects who are said to have extensive criminal histories.
