Chipley, FL – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of 4 adults, including one with active felony warrants, following a traffic stop that led to a vehicle pursuit by officers.
While on patrol, Deputy Keith Mayo observed a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle wanted in connection to an earlier burglary headed south on Highway 77. After spotting the officer, the vehicle left the highway and pulled into a residence off Highway 77.
Deputy Mayo believed the vehicle not only matched the description of the suspicious vehicle mentioned in an earlier BOLO, but felt the actions of the driver and vehicle occupants, as well as the location the vehicle was parked, were all cause for extreme concern. Deputy Mayo then activated his lights and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle then fled the scene headed north on Highway 77. Deputy Mayo pursued the vehicle north on 77 and then on to the eastbound lane of I-10. The vehicle made a u turn off the I-10 eastbound lane and entered the westbound lane of I-10 as deputies continued to pursue. The vehicle then pulled over near the orange hill overpass and the driver and 3 adult passengers surrendered without incident.
After officers placed the 4 suspects in custody, a two year old child was found in the vehicle. A rifle, shotgun, several rounds of ammunition, and rolling papers used to smoke marijuana were found in the vehicle.
Arrested and charged:
Alicia Michele Deal, 27 year old white female
· Possession of a Controlled Substance Without Prescription
· Introduction of Contraband Into a Detention Facility
Cody James Parrish, 28 year old white male
· Possession of Narcotic Equipment
Dalton Tyler Toole, 25 year old white male
· Possession of Narcotic Equipment
Robbie Edward Simmons, 31 year old white male
Simmons was wanted on two separate felony warrants including aggravated assault with deadly weapon
· Flee/Eluding Police
· Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
· Cruelty Towards Child
While in the process of being booked into the Washington County Jail, officers discovered 25 pills and synthetic marijuana in plastic baggies concealed by Alicia Deal on her person.
“We not only have 4 adults who willingly made a choice to break the law, but they put an innocent child, who had no say in the matter, at risk as a result of their actions” states Sheriff Haddock. “This wasn’t just a bad decision. These actions could have resulted in this child’s death and had it not been for Deputy Mayo’s proactive response, this could have had a much more tragic end.”
