Fourth Suspect in Jackson County Shooting Turns Himself In to Police

During the early morning hours of Sunday, August 17, 2014, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting two individuals being shot. When the first responding deputies arrived on scene it was discovered that Travis Marvin Locke of Sneads, Florida and Patrick Register also of Sneads had been shot.

 

During the ensuing investigation it was determined that Locke and Register were meeting with other individuals that night to purchase a large quantity of pseudoephedrine pills which are utilized to manufacture Methamphetamine. During the meeting, which occurred on Dellwood Cypress Road, Locke and Register were ambushed by the ones they were meeting in an attempted robbery. During the struggle between Locke and Register and the suspects, shots were fired into the passenger compartment of Locke’s vehicle striking both Locke and Register. Locke and Register fled the scene and traveled to a residence in Grand Ridge in an attempt to get assistance.

 

Locke was transported by helicopter to Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida while Register was transported by ambulance to Jackson Hospital. Locke’s injuries were determined to be non-life threatening and was treated and released. Register however succumbed to his injuries.

 

During the investigation a female suspect was identified as Dayeisha Curry, of Marianna, Florida. A description of Curry’s vehicle was also obtained as being a gray Dodge Dart. Curry was the one whom Locke was corresponding with to arrange the purchase of the pseudoephedrine medication.

 

While searching for Curry, her vehicle was observed in Marianna and a traffic stop was conducted. Curry was identified as the driver and her passengers as Jordan Davis and Chris Laster both of Marianna, Florida.

 

Evidence collected from the scene of the shooting compared with evidence located from Davis, Laster and Curry, in addition to statements from the parties involved, implicated all three suspects in the murder of Patrick Register and the Attempted Murder of Travis Locke.

 

Dayeisha Curry and Chris Laster were both placed under arrest charged with Principle in the First Degree to Homicide of Patrick Register and Principle in the First Degree to Attempted Homicide of Travis Locke. Jordan Davis was placed under arrest on an open count of Murder in the death of Patrick Register and Attempted

During the homicide investigation, a fourth defendant was identified as Laderious D. Corbitt Pittman. Pittman was implicated in the homicide of Patrick Register and the attempted homicide of Travis Locke through witness statements and physical evidence collected during the investigation. An arrest warrant was obtained on Pittman for his involvement in the Murder of Patrick Register and in the Attempted Murder of Travis Locke.

 

On Thursday, August 21, 2014, arrangements were made for the surrender of Pittman. During the afternoon of Thursday, August 21, 2014, Pittman turned himself in to authorities at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Pittman was transported to the Jackson County Jail to await first appearance on these charges.
