Free Blue Bell treats, Free Cheerwine samples and Free BBQ in Dothan

Sometimes we get questions about "What do I get for my $10 admission at the BBQ Festival?" Of course you get great family entertainment like live music, a bicycle stunt show, cooking classes, a reptile discovery program and a car show. There’s also Free Mini-golf and free bounce houses as well. But some of the best freebies at the 10th annual Tr-State BBQ Festival are the FREE FOOD samples that happen Saturday April 11th. Here are some of those free food sampling opportunities:

From 10AM until they run out, Blue Bell Ice Cream will have their truck parked near the main gate and will be giving out free treats! Also, from 11 until 4 (or when supplies run out) Cheerwine will be giving away samples of their legendary soda pop. The Cheerwine sampling will be just past the Wind Creek tent and Reptile Discovery Program, next to the white Pepsi wagon. 

At 2:30 there will be FREE BBQ samples in the Academy Sports People’s Choice tent (to the right of the main stage). You can sample all the BBQ you want from the various teams and vote for your favorite. 

And, if you’re not too full of BBQ, at 4:00 pm, the Lang Smoker Cookers whole hog cooking class will culminate with the hog coming off the pit and being served to the crowd that’s gathered. The Lang smokers tent is straight ahead and on the left past the main gate (across form the Wind Creek Tent). 

Also, many vendors offer samples, such as the seasonings, spices and sauces vendors.
