FROM SENATOR HARRI ANNE SMITH:
Home from a two day start week in Montgomery. I guess most of you by now have either read or watched the Governor's state of the State address. He wants to make the next three years left in his term about "making Alabama Great", helping people and reaching for the Moon. Got his plan today in writing and am going to get it in a version I can load and share with you soon. I believe it is 14 pages long. I really want you guys to read it so I can get your opinions. Not many details yet but I guess that is coming as the session moves forward. I will share those with you as I get them also. The Republican House Caucus has a plan and The Senate Republican Super Majority have their own plan. I did notice that there are conflicts between these two plans so as usual nothing is clear cut. I am going to think positive and just chalk this uneasy feeling due to the first week. Again, as I have told you before I will work to do the best job I can to put you first and do what is good for our area and The State as a whole. There are issues that I know you are interested in based on comments here on face book , a vote on a lottery, job creation, support teacher pay raise and fully fund education, giving State and Education Retirees a pay increase since it has been almost 8 to 9 years since the last increase and making sure mental health, Veterans and Seniors are protected. I hear you and will continue to listen to your concerns and try to address them and build support for those issues. There are other issues out there and please don't think because I didn't list all of them that they are less important to me. I am just brain dead tonight. Thank you all for your input. Keep it coming.....Thanks for allowing me to represent you and I will continue to try and do my best.
